Bionic Hand

Touch Bionics have developed the first ever Bionic Hand which is probably greatly appreciated by people who have been born without a hand or lost their hand due to an accident. The Bionic Hand has a very strong grip to be able to grasp objects and hold them for long periods of time. Also, the hand actually has fingers that each have their own motor which is called the I Limb! Touch Bionics are now working on the invention of a prosthetic wrist and full Bionic Arm. Imagine the things a person could accomplish by having their entire arm back after losing it! Having a Bionic Hand is definitely a lot safer for a person because they are able to use their hand properly and not have to struggle to get things or do things on their own!

  1. This is such a fantastic invention. It really is wonderful to be able to give someone the gift of having a hand. I cannot imagine what life would be like without the ability to pick something up or hold anything. There was just an article in the news recently where a man received a full hand transplant. I believe that with this he able to gain feeling back as well. We have come such a long way, who is to say where we will be or what we will be able to do in 10 years from now.

  2. This is definitely a great invention. I wonder how long they have been developing and testing this. It reminds me of the old 70’s TV show “The Million Dollar Man.” This must be a lot better than the old plastic limbs they still use. There must have been a lot of research and technology to create such an invention.

This device could make the user feel whole again. They would be able to write, draw, throw, catch or even shake hands again. It would open up a lot of personal and social opportunities for them. It would also help bring any confidence back which they may have lost.

  3. The bionic hand is just one of a number of advances in medical science that is going to benefit many. Bionic limbs will help soldiers who have lost limbs function again and give many people hope to accomplish their goals. I think eventually it will be used to create a bionic person,a completely computerized model of a human being. There would be many uses for such an invention. They could replace soldiers and people in other hazardous occupations to save lives. They could be used to explore the universe and go places normal humans can't.

  4. The bionic hand. I never thought that I would live to see someone become the Six-Million Dollar Man. This just goes to show that technology is almost there. I really enjoyed your group’s attention to detail when talking about all these different things. It is great reading because I don’t normally look into safety technology.
