The Future of Bikes

When you think of a bike the first picture that comes to mind does not look like this bike but that is why it is a bike of the future. This bike is not only a regular bike it is also a exercise bike, electric scooter and even folds into a seat to sit on if you are on the bus! It has solar panels inside the hub less wheels which while you are pedaling allows the bike to power charge a battery that makes the bike an electric scooter! This bike is safe for the environment because it is battery charged and it also is healthy because it is an exercise bike and it can also save people money because they don't have to pay bus fair because they can just ride it as the Electric Scooter!

  1. This is truly unbelievable, and looks really expensive. When it comes out it will probably have a huge price tag and be more of a niche item. But it does look a lot like something straight out of the movies. It combines a bike, scooter, seat, and exercise machine all into one. It is crazy to see something like this because the bicycle as we know it today hasnt had too many changes in the past 100 years. As everything is evolving and changing the bicycle has stayed the same. I guess technology is going to touch everything eventually. It is interesting to think how popular this will one day become, its practical use is unmatched by many forms of transportation today. This will undoubtedly one day replace the bicycle as we know it.

  2. This is pretty much one of the most awesome creations I have ever seen. I never thought I would see the day any time soon when you could actually carry your bike around with you like a suitcase, and then actually be able to ride it without pedaling. Technology is a marvelous thing, giving us the power to solve most of our problems. With gas prices always poised to rise dramatically, having a solar powered and human powered vehicle is a great asset. The bike itself doesn't look too sturdy to me, but I guess that materials in the future will likely be stronger. In the end though, I just can't wait to get my hands on it and try it for myself.

  3. Exercise and save money all at the same time. What more could anyone want? Imagine setting off for work on your bike and getting to a big hill then just switching over to electric mode to cruise up the hill. Exercise and short commuting would be revolutionized. I have enjoyed reading about technology and safety this semester. You guys went into great detail on a variety of fronts concerning your topic.

  4. Being a person who loves to ride their bike and experience nature on a bike, this transportation device for the future is exciting and appealing. Cars and other transportation devices are already using chargeable batteries and solar power to travel – so why not the bike?

This device combines a bike, an exercise machine and an electric scooter all in one. It will have solar panels that used along with the riders peddling will charge the battery that is used for the electric part of it.

For people who are able to pay what I anticipate is a hefty price tag, they will not only be able to use this new apparatus for travel and exercise, but they will also help our world get a little “greener”.

I can’t wait to see one…let’s just see if I can afford it!

  5. Wow this is very interesting. It is a three for one deal. Plus it will save money because you are only buying one item instead of three. I'm not surprised that it contains solar panels because everyone is trying to be green. This new invention may even be a new means of transportation. Gas has become more expensive and using an electric scooter to go short distances will save money instead of driving. Nice post, very interesting to read!

  7. This is an amazing advancement from a simple bicycle to something that could possibly be able to do a multitude of things. Its interesting to see how society has adapted to finding different inventions that could compact a lot of things into one. It seems that the further along technology goes the more society seems to be either getting lazy or just simply trying to conserve time

  8. This bike looks really cool. It also sounds like a great idea. I agree with some of the other commentors about it looking expensive. However if it has all those extra things than just being a bike it is worth it.

  9. Wow, that is amazing! We are all constantly thinking about the future, however, we mostly think about computers and the internet and such. It is really neat to see what the future of bikes will be like. And it is ingenious to think that a simple street bike can also be used as an exercise bike, it seems like it should already be done! Very nice research and an excellent find, I enjoyed seeing something like this that I did not ever think about before. Very nice blog concept and overall, excellent research!

  10. Everything nowadays seems to be all about making things compact and small. But it truly is an incredible invention. A lot of people, who live close enough, are beginning to ride their bikes to work. Not only is this allowing the rider to exercise but also this bike helps cut down carbon monoxide emissions that would have been expelled into the environment. As Andrew said it will probably have a nice price tag the first time out, but as more people start buying them and popularity increases, more sufficient ways will be created to make them, and prices will eventually go down. The law of supply and demand.
